Hey there — it’s Macie, your neighborhood fireworks survival expert.

Let me just say this loud and clear: I do not like the 4th of July. I mean, I love hot dogs and backyard picnics, but those loud booms? No thank you. If you’ve ever seen your dog trembling under the bed during a fireworks show, you know what I’m talking about.

That’s why this month, I’m sharing my best advice for helping your furry family members feel safe, loved, and calm when the sky lights up and how your home can make all the difference.

🐾 Macie's Fireworks Survival Tips

1. Create a Safe, Quiet Zone

A bathroom, laundry room, or walk-in closet works great. Give us a cozy bed, our favorite toy, and some soothing background noise (like the TV or white noise machine).

2. Close the Windows and Curtains

Muffle the noise, block the flashes, and keep things calm. (Bonus: this also keeps the air conditioning in, which I’m a big fan of.)

3. ID Tags Matter

More pets go missing on the 4th of July than any other day of the year. Make sure I’m chipped, tagged, and safely inside before the party starts.

4. Keep the Routine (and Treats) Coming

Feed me at the usual time, sneak me a frozen peanut butter Kong, and let’s act like nothing is exploding outside. I’ll try to believe you.
