On November 21, 2024, Freddie Mac announced the latest results from its
Primary Mortgage Market Survey® (PMMS®), revealing that the 30-year
fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) has risen to an average of 6.84% as of
November 21, 2024, compared to 6.78% the previous week.
“Mortgage rates edged closer to 7% this week,” said Sam Khater, Chief Economist at Freddie Mac. “As we approach the holiday season, demand for home purchases remains sluggish. Although the inventory of homes for sale has increased slightly; high interest rates are cooling new construction activity.”
